Check out the video for "Bloody Tearz" here.
Edo G, Slaine, & Jaysaun Are Special Teamz! Debut LP "Stereotypez" (+ 2 Bonus Tracks)
- The Godfather of Boston hip-hop, Edo G teams up with up & coming local lyricists Slaine (La Coka Nostra) and Jaysaun (The Kreators), following the success of their indepedently released 2006 mixtape album with their debut full-length LP, Stereotypez. Released on the Boot Camp Click's own Duck Down Records imprint, the team not only taps high-profile production credits from DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Jake One, and Marco Polo, but also guest shots from Buckshot, Sean Price, Ill Bill, Devin The Dude, Akrobatik, and others. Download the album from HipHopSite and get two exclusive, non-album tracks included with your purchase.
Justus League's Median Delivers The Long-Awaited "Median's Relief" LP (+3 Bonus Tracks)
It's been a long time coming, but Median's Relief, the highly anticipated debut album from Justus League member Median, is available now at HipHopSite Digital! . The album, which hits stores September 25th on Halftooth Records, features outstanding production from 9th Wonder, Khrysis, Nicolay, Ant B, and more, as well as guest appearances from the likes of Joe Scudda, Chaundon, L.E.G.A.C.Y. and Spectac. Download the album from HipHopSite Digital and get three uncut, non-album bonus tracks included with your purchase, including "Comfortable" with production from 9th Wonder! As an added bonus, you can download Median's "Relief In The Making" mixtape for free, just in case you want to get a little taste of Median before you purchase the full album.
Definitive Jux's Rob Sonic Drops "Sabotage Gigante" (+ 2 Bonus Tracks)
On his new album, Sabotage Gigante, Rob Sonic returns with a progressive hip-hop sound that is rooted in classc Bronx boom-bap. The album is filled with head-nodding beats and mind spinning lyrics, if you listen deeper you can "hear the voice of the pill swallowed and rejected". Includes guest shots from Aesop Rock and Busdriver. Order from HipHopSite Digital, and get two bonus tracks not included on the CD or vinyl release. Meanwhile, check out Rob Sonic "throwing ninja stars" or "blowing large bubbles" on Aesop Rock's MTV cable access show, "I Am Trying To Help".
DJ Shadow's backing band, Heliocentrics, Are "Out There" (+ 2 Bonus Tracks)
Four years in the making, The Heliocentrics' debut album is finally complete. Out There is here. Good luck trying to categorize their music. Led by the relentless drummer Malcolm Catto, the UK collective's objective lays quite a ways beyond what ordinary listeners know or expect. In an alternative galaxy, where the orbits of Hip-Hop, Funk, Jazz, Psychedelic, Electronic, Avante-Garde and Ethnic music all revolve around "The One" – that's where you might find The Heliocentrics. A listen to a song or two reveals no small influence from the funk universe of James Brown. But there's also the disorienting asymmetry of Sun Ra's music. The cinematic scope of Ennio Morricone. The sublime fusion of David Axelrod. But the Heliocentrics' music isn't retro. It's brand new. And it's timeless. They have well-placed fans in the likes of Madlib (Catto was featured on his Shades of Blue album and on various Yesterdays New Quintet releases) and DJ Shadow (the band backed him on various tours, and on the song "This Time I'm Gonna Do It My Way" from his The Outsider album), who will tell you that this band is really the next shit but that they have the consistency and musicianship that seems to have been lost somewhere in the analog to digital shuffle over the past thirty years. The Heliocentrics are the real deal. They are "Out There" in the best possible sense of the word. Order from HipHopSite and get 2 non-album bonus tracks included with your purchase.
Georgia Anne Muldrow and Dudley Perkins Team Up To Deliver "The Message Uni Versa" (+1 Bonus Track)
As foretold by the oracles of Look Records, in the fall of the year 2007 a message will be delivered from beyond time and space. Called The Message Uni Versa, these words of funk and light will be brought by two powerful spiritual guardians known as G&D. It is believed that its arrival will bridge the gaps between generations and peoples, and that it will heal the wounded spirits of the oppressed. In an age where unjust men pass judgment and the world's leaders are in need of spiritual rehab, these two alien beings will arrive with a mission of unity, soul, and love. Needless to say, it will defy all categorization as you know it. The members of G&D, known on Earth as Georgia Anne Muldrow and Dudley Perkins, are blue walking soul people born from black music. Georgia was called into the universe by members of the progressive jazz movement in the 70's, and spent years crafting a temple of synthesizers, keyboards, and other obscure musical instruments, dedicated to sounds which bring back to life vibrations of classic soul, free jazz, funk, and old school boom-baps. She learned the forgotten art of the singer/songwriter/producer, and by sheer force of mind she summoned forth The Worthnothings EP and Olesi: Fragments of an Earth (Stones Throw Records). Dudley Perkins, called Declaime by the rebels of the hip-hop underground, sings with a voice that bumps with rhythm, floats with melody, and is charged with pure soul - and yet, there's another quality of his voice, which mere mortal music critics cannot describe. He shone his lyrical light with Madlib for the recording A Lil' Light in 2003. Three years later, Dudley encountered Georgia in the preparations for Expressions (2012 A.U.) (also Stones Throw), and they realized that they were even stronger together. And so, with Dudley's powers of vocal persuasion united with Georgia's otherworldly singing and studio genius, G&D put together a universal message of peace, love, rhythm and rhyme to humankind – a Message Uni Versa.

Customer Letter of The Week: Andrew Clark
HHS,
After driving to four random stores, I finally gave up and purchased "Uncle Tony's Coloring Book" thru your website. I think you guys really have something going here....you guys have access to music that isn't generally available at the 'big stores'. Not to mention this gives me a quick way to support your site..which I visit often for news and reviews. So let me say thanks for all the writing that you have done on your site..you have really educated me to what real hip hop is and music that I probably would never have listened to or 'googled'. (RJD2, blockhead, dj shadow, dj vadim...bring it!) Thanks again! - Andrew Clark
Thanks Andrew, we appreciate your support. There's much more coming. - HHS Staff

HipHopSite.Com Officially Relaunches As Digital Music Store
The old site is gone and the new site is here! HipHopSite.Com has been officially relaunched as HipHopSite Digital Music Store Version 1.0, as of September 18, 2007. No longer will HipHopSite deal with physical retail mail-order, but instead, legal, digital music downloads, in DRM free MP3 files at 192 kpbs or higher, and full-length albums loaded with exclusive bonus tracks you won't find on their CD or vinyl counterparts. Gone are the days of waiting two or more weeks to get your order - now you can get it instantly at HipHopSite Digital. We will be adding new titles to the catalog several times a week, from classic restocks to new releases to exclusives you won't find elsewhere. Stay tuned....
Stones Throw Brings Percee P & Baron Zen (+ Bonus Tracks) To HipHopSite Digital
Stones Throw delivers a pair of new releases to HipHopSite Digital, both including exclusive bonus tracks not included on the physical product versions.
Percee P's "Perseverance" is the long-awaited debut from the legendary Bronx freestyle fanatic, who is loved and worshipped as a god of the microphone by artists like Edan, Peanut Butter Wolf, DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, Egon, and he's never even released an album! Produced entirely by Madlib, Percee makes his debut with Perseverance, featuring guest spots from fans and friends including Chali 2na of Jurassic 5, Aesop Rock, Prince Po of Organized Konfusion, Diamond D, Vinnie Paz of Jedi Mind Tricks, and Guilty Simpson. HipHopSite Digital edition includes two bonus versions of "The Hand That Leads You", taken from the Fan Club 45.
Baron Zen's "At The Mall (Remixes)" digs up classic recordings of a pre-Stones Throw Peanut Butter Wolf working the drum machine for aspiring punk-hopper Sweet Steve, who does amazingly awful renditions of songs like "When I Hear Music" and "Walking On Sunshine". On this new remixed edition of the album, Madlib, J-Rocc, Arabian Prince, Peanut Butter Wolf, James Pants, Danny Breaks, DJ Romes, and others try their hand at remxing the lost recordings. HipHopSite Digital edition includes 2 bonus tracks, including a cover of "The Right Stuff" by NKOTB. (First mention of NKOTB on HipHopSite in the company's eleven year history!).
Havoc of Mobb Deep Ventures Solo With "The Kush" (+ Megamix)
"I was always ready (to drop a solo-album), but the reason why it took me so long is because the timing wasn't right. I was always working on Mobb Deep material and working with other artists and I used a lot of the material I was going to use for a solo-LP for Mobb Deep records," said Havoc in a statement.
However, that all changes with the release of Havoc's debut, The Kush, on 9-18-07. Havoc's debut has been buzzed about for quite some time and is eagerly anticipated by the group's fan base and fans of the duo's hardcore brand of NY hip-hop. Over the years, Havoc's eerily chilling production has influenced countless producers, set the bar for NYC producers and become the identity for the "Queensbridge sound." That trend continues with The Kush, as the LP is entirely self-produced by Havoc and as he laments he's keeping it grimy "basically, The Kush is dark and gutter, I really wanted to go that direction."
Forsaking littering The Kush with numerous guest-appearances, Havoc choose to keep things entirely in-house and make it an all-family endeavor by design states Havoc "Besides Prodigy, I did not want a bunch of big stars on it, as it would have taken away from the real objective of the LP, which is grimy and down to earth."
After working with virtually every big name artist in the Urban genre and creating some of the most timeless music Hip-Hop fans have had the pleasure to lay ears upon, Havoc did not need to step out of his zone to stay motivated for The Kush, as he states "the thing that keeps me motivated is just my love of music, I just love to create. The Kush represents me as an individual and my growth as a producer and lyricist."
Order The Kush from HipHopSite Digital, and get the exclusive non-album bonus track, Absolute Kush, which features DJ Absolute running through 74 minutes of Mobb Deep madness, including exclusive freestyles and unreleased music you won't find elswhere.
Hezekiah Teams With Bilal, Jaguar Wright, Freeway For "...Riot" (+ Bonus Tracks)
Hezekiah returns with his second album, I Predict A Riot , available now @ HipHopSite Digital (+ 2 Bonus Tracks) on Rawkus / Soul Spazm. The album follows up his 2005 debut, Hurry Up and Wait , and features the new single "Looking Up" (featuring Bilal). He will also be joined by fellow Philly natives Jaguar Wright and Freeway, both of whom guest appear on the album. HipHopSite Digital edition comes packaged with digital booklet PDF, as well as two bonus remixes of the scorching lead single, "Looking Up" (feat. Bilal). Check out the video for "Looking Up" (feat. Bilal) on YouTube or in hi-res - we swear this single sells the entire record.
Rugged Intellect Brings "Renaissance Music" With Two Bonus Tracks
Expertism Music Group announces the release of Rugged Intellect's debut, entitled Renaissance Music: The Introduction. With his efforless flow and breathless delivery, R.I. has been compared to Rakim, The Game and Big Punisher, with plenty of "rewind moments" all over the full-length. Hailing from Montreal, Canada, Rugged's multi-lingualism combined with his multisyllabic, relentless rhyme schemes position him as a unique voice in the hiphop industry. Production is handled by Domingo, Buckwild (DITC), Memo (Molemen), Montreal's Apokalyptik and Executive Producer Adam Sampler, plus guest shots from Ras Kass, Rock and Sean Price of Heltah Skeltah, Kool G. Rap, RA The Rugged Man, AG, Party Arty, and more. Order from HipHopSite Digital, and get two bonus tracks not included on the regular CD release.
Blockhead "Uncle Tony's Coloring Book" (+ 3 Bonus Tracks) Available Now On HipHopSite Digital
Blockhead is back with his brand new album, Uncle Tony's Coloring Book, and we've got it ready for you to download right here and right now, instantly at HipHopSite Digital! Get all 13 regular album cuts, plus 3 additional bonus tracks when you purcahse the full album for download here. MP3 320Kpbs. Blockhead is the go-to-man for anyone in the know on the indie hip-hop scene. With his tough instrumentals, he has helped propel MC talents such as Aesop Rock, Cage, Slug, and Murs. Wanting to stretch out his creativity, he approached Ninja Tune with a killer demo which became his debut album, Music By Cavelight , which included the head-nodding hit, "Insomniac Olympics"
Since then, he has racked up a second Ninja Tune album, Downtown Science , and a slew of production credits - most notably on the new Aesop Rock album, None Shall Pass , for Definitive Jux.
To coincide with that release and the subsequent tour (on which he is opening all 45 dates), Blockhead has decided to self-release Uncle Tony's Coloring Book , an upbeat collection of fun instrumentals with the trademark Blockhead production style, tough beats, and catchy grooves that infect his earlier releases. So grab your crayons, spread them out and color along to the sounds of Uncle Tony's Coloring Book.

I Wouldn't Want to Be Outside the Bubble on This One
The reason we buy it is because it's essentially what he's selling.
In nearly every interview he's given he's been happy to bulldoze his way through the softball questions about last week's showdown and the larger questions about his musical career — does music matter to him anymore, will he continue to make it, if so why, etc. — with little insight and a hard-charging 'I am the best' arrogance.
His apparent 'loss' (if you can call upwards of 600K albums sold in one week a loss) has revealed that devilish, cannibalistic impulse we have with stumbling celebrities, disinterested in the minutiae of fame, eager merely to watch them fall.
The media, in some ways, appears ready to declare America done with 50 Cent as a cultural force. Still, despite all the vilifying there is a strange moment on the absolutely entertaining Forbes 1,2,3, Billion Dollar Remix of "I Get Money." After 50 finishes his second verse he announces Jay-Z's verse with "Fuck wit 'em Jay" and at that point you sort of realize, "Oh yeah, Jay laid a verse for this song. He doesn't hate 50 — maybe they're even friends." Sure, it's good business to get on the remix of the best New York rap record in years, but 50 still had to pull it off, getting Diddy and Jay to record their verses. Diddy is obviously game for anything. He must be thrilled to be wedged in between these two.
But getting Jay took more clout, perhaps more than we remember 50 having now that he is an insta-memory of the 2003-2007 half-decade of glittering gangsta-pop decadence. Some want this to be a turning point of sorts. A time when the only rappers selling product are thoughtful veteran MCs like Common, UGK and Kanye.

Kanye West Bests 50 Cent in Album Sales
Just hours after he was officially crowned the victor in his much-hyped sales battle with 50 Cent, Kanye West turned up at GQ's 50th anniversary party as the featured performer. But the evening was more like a coronation for West, whose 'Graduation' widely outsold 50 Cent's 'Curtis' in first week sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan: 957,000 copies to 691,000 copies. 'To be a champion, you've got to take out a champion,' West declared Tuesday night, as an all-star crowd including Jay-Z, Beyonce and Diddy cheered him on. Moments later, he called for his 'theme music,' then launched into a performance of his song 'Good Life.' Things couldn't be much better for West, who gave the struggling music industry its best debut of the year with 'Graduation,' besting the year's previous first-week champ, Linkin Park, which sold 623,000 of 'Minutes to Midnight' when it debuted in May.

Murs Brings Classic Titles To HipHopSite Digital
Before Murs hooked up with the guys at Definitive Jux, and before he even met 9th Wonder, he released a handful of independent albums as a member of the Living Legends crew. HipHopSite Digital is proud to announce that we are now stocking Murs' classic CD releases, each of which helped him become the artist he is today! The new additions are available now for download as full albums or individual tracks.

Madlib "Beat Conducta In India" Is #1 Seller On HipHopSite Digital
Our first week of sales over here at HipHopSite Digital was fantastic, with Madlib taking the top spot with his recent release, "Beat Konducta Vol. 3 & 4: In India". Madlib sold more full-albums than any other artist on HipHopSite Digital with his release - perhaps it was because of the great value - 33 MP3 tracks (plus 4 Exclusive bonus cuts at HipHopSite Digital) for $13.00? Second place goes to Blu & Exile, with their critically acclaimed debut "Beneath The Heavens", (also loaded with two exclusive bonus tracks at HipHopSite Digi), while third place is given to Aesop Rock with "None Shall Pass", which comes packaged with two extra joints, courtesy of Hangar 18 and Junk Science. Who will take the top spots next week?
50 Cent Vs. Kanye West: We Pick The Winner
Fans are speaking with their wallets, as to who they like better in the Kanye West Graduation vs. 50 Cent Curtis sales contest this week. Rumors say that Kanye may be on track to do 750,000 first week, over 50's "no more platinum, I'm wearing gold" 500,000 first week. Still, not a bad look for either artist. Where the numbers actually end up next week remains to be seen. So who do WE think has the better album? Guess. Check out In The Deck at HipHopSite Digital, for our reviews of both records.
Back For The First Time: Masta Ace, Sadat X, Blu, Exile, Bad Meets Evil, and more

M.F. Grimm "Sentences" Hardcover Graphic Novel On Sale At HipHopSite.Com ('Til Tuesday)

Sentences: The Life Of MF Grimm
The last piece of physical merchandise brought in for HipHopSite's mail-order retail wing is "Sentences: The Life Of MF Grimm", hardcover graphic novel from Vertigo / DC Comics. Grimm (aka Percy Carey) tells his life-story, from being on Sesame Street as a child, meeting heroes Dr. Dre & Chuck D, getting shot and confined to a wheelchair, and being reborn as an indie success as M.F. Grimm. Written by Grimm, illustrated by Ron Wimberly. As an added bonus, we've even knocked $5 off the cover price - get it for $15.
Final Day To Place Orders On HipHopSite "Physical" Is September 17th
Looks like it's about that time.... What, you didn't hear? HipHopSite.Com is closing it's physical retail end completely, in order to focus our efforts 100% on HipHopSite Digital (http://digital.hiphopsite.com), where you can download the best in hip-hop music on MP3. With HipHopSite Digital already out-selling it's physical counterpart, it's time to close the book on the world of physical retail. The last day to place orders online is September 17th. After that, the physical retail site will be closed and replaced completely with HipHopSite Digital, which will be located at www.HipHopSite.com as of September 18th. All remaining CD's are $5, all remaining LP's are $2, and all remaining 12inch vinyl singles are $1. Last chance!

Aesop Rock, Madlib, Blu & Exile, Styles of Beyond @ HipHopSite Digital
HipHopSite is proud to announce the Beta launch of HipHopSite Digital Music Store, located at http://digital.hiphopsite.com. The site is officially opened for business, in its Beta version. HipHopSite made the decision this past June to discontinue our physical goods mail order service and to close the brick-and-mortar store, in favor of launching our new digital music store.
We are launching with over 50 products in our system, working and ready for you to download, many with exclusive bonus tracks you won't find elsewhere. Some key titles at launch are featured below.

There are tons more releases to be added, so you can check the site on almost a daily basis to see new and catalog releases added. This is the Beta launch, which means the site works and is secure, but there may be bugs still in place, or sections or features we have not added quite yet. Eventually all of the regular content sections, including archives, will be moved over to the new website, and the old site will soon be closed down. If you wish to place orders for physical goods in our clearance sale, this is your last chance to do so.
